Dr. Hagit Berdishevsky , PT, DPT , specializes in scoliosis and spine rehabilitation for non-operative, pre-operative and post-operative patients of all ages. She is the owner of the Scoliosis and Spine Physical Therapy Clinic in New York City (also known as SchrothNYC) and the Good Posture Center in Israel. Dr. Berdishevsky teaches for Scoliosis and Spine Online Learning (SSOL), which she co-founded in 2018.
Dr. Berdishevsky graduated in 1998 from the Wingate Institute’s Physical Education and Sports Science Program in Israel with a specialty in Postural Defects Cultivation. She received her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Hunter College, part of the City University of New York, in 2005, and her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree (with a specialty in sports rehabilitation) from St. Augustine University (Florida) in 2013. Dr. Berdishevsky received her certification as a Schroth Physical Therapist from the Asklepios Katherina-Schroth Clinic in Germany in 2009, the same year she was certified by the McKenzie Institute in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT). In 2011, she was certified by the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) in Spain, and in 2013 became a Teacher for BSPTS-Concept by Rigo. From 2017 to 2021 Dr. Berdishevsky served as Chair of the Education Committee for the International Society on Scoliosis Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT), and from 2021 to 2022 served as SOSORT Board Member. Dr. Berdishevsky worked for ten years at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) as an Advanced Clinician and, as the first certified Schroth therapist in New York City, she introduced the Schroth practice to HSS. She then joined the staff of Columbia University Medical Center in order to institute and develop a Schroth clinic and served as Co-Director of the Non-Operative Care for Spine and Scoliosis Department. At the same time she developed her private clinic, SchrothNYC, and taught extensively around the world. In addition to teaching BSPTS-Concept by Rigo from 2013 to 2020, she co-developed and taught Pilates Adaptation for People with Scoliosis as well as Integrated Wisdom: Yoga Adaptation for People with Scoliosis. In 2018 Dr. Berdishevsky co-founded Scoliosis and Spine Online Learning (SSOL), which is devoted to educating and training professionals in the scoliosis community. SSOL has a current reach of nearly 100 countries across 6 continents and provides current, science-based education from the world's foremost experts in the field of scoliosis and other spinal conditions. Dr. Berdishevsky regularly lectures on scoliosis, radiology, osteoporosis and other spine-related topics at conferences and to community groups. Based in both New York City and Israel, she teaches throughout the United States and internationally. |
