PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
SCOLIOSIS AND SPINAL CONDITIONS FITNESS MASTER COURSEThis comprehensive continuing education course is designed for certified fitness instructors and physical therapists who want to understand best practice recommendations for how to modify fitness exercises for adults with spinal conditions based on evaluation of risk factors and movement competence.
By the end of this course the student will be able to: 1) apply evidence based tools to help determine which adults are at higher risk for progression of their spinal condition 2) understand radiographic findings and movement assessment outcomes 3) apply postural and breathing techniques to reduce sagittal and frontal plane postural compression and 4) develop a fitness and lifestyle activity plan for the patient or client that will motivate them to stay fit for life as they continue to improve their spinal condition. |
Three course modules guide the learner through the clinical assessment process necessary to help select safe, healthy, fitness-focused exercises from the following disciplines: yoga, Pilates, weight lifting and suspension training. Students will learn variations from each exercise discipline and develop confidence in effectively managing spinal conditions according to the latest research that supports the proposed intervention options. |
